Heritage and self-esteem
By Tesouros de Galicia
October 2014 comes to its end, a month with warm temperatures and calm in Galicia.
Few days ago, we were surprised by some unfortunate statements -followed by the pertinent apologies- by the Spanish Film Director Pedro Almodóvar.
Some days after, Tesouros de Galicia sends this message with the purpose of being respectful but firm, because this is not the first time Galicia is associated with negative connotations. Re-owned politicians or even the Spanish Royal Academy have fallen into that error, and from time to time, this kind of comments arise.
Tesouros de Galicia seeks the recovery and promotion of our heritage, of our tangible and intangible heritage. We are proud of it and we also think that heritage can and should be an element of economic revitalization and job creation.
To recover it, previously we should value it, and the first step in the Galician assessment of what is self-esteem. Therefore we can not be silent, and we now demand the respect we deserve.
