Route Lucus Augusti
It is the only route in Galicia to know all kinds of related Roman life remains. Lugo City is known for its Roman past, and proof of this is the wall that surrounds the city centre. In addition to this impressive monument, other remains were visited.
The walk over the wall is mandatory for everyone who visits Lugo. It also has an interpretation centre to get to know its history and its influence on the city.
The daily lives of Roman elites is surprising, in this case with the visit to the House of Mosaics, a domus located in the heart of Lugo, which dates from the first and second centuries. This is musealised to enjoy the decorative elements of this type of construction such as mosaics and wall paintings, in addition to the underground heating system or hipocaustum.
The route continues with the spa, distinctive element of the Roman culture and 500 meters have a bridge located on Via XIX, which joined Lucus Augusti with Bracara Augusta (now Braga).
We end with Santa Eulalia de Bóveda, an unicum or unique archaeological site, as their characteristics are not repeated in any other construction of the Roman Empire. It is situated 14 kilometres west of Lugo. The wall of the vault paintings are among the most important of the late Romanization.
